Day 2

September 19th, 2009 Duke No comments

As promised, here’s a photo from our Canopy Tour… and a video as well!  Check it out.  After the fun, when coming back out from the zip-line course, we encountered several individuals admiring our bikes.  We shared with them the purpose of our ride, and handed them a couple Camp Hope flyers.

Two of them showed special interest.  One had a friend who has a cable show with a similar mission to help wounded veterans.  And he promised to share Camp Hope, its message and work with this friend.  The other individual was a fly-fishing guide.  He said he couldn’t offer a friend with a cable program, but said what he could offer were his services.  The message is getting out… one person at a time.

After leaving Beckley, we continued our ride and made our way to Louisville, Kentucky.  We were met there by Mike A., his lovely wife Deana, and members of his club the Guns of Justice.  We had a great time with them and they made us feel at home.  Their plan is to have a Poker Run in support of Camp Hope.  Thanks Mike and Deana, and all the friends we met from Guns of Justice!

Day 1

September 15th, 2009 Duke 1 comment
Had a great first day!  Left Charlotte and rode to West Virginia, just outside of Beckley, where we pulled into Class IV Mountain River Outfitters.  Our plan was to register for a day of rafting on Day 2, but ended up deciding for a Canopy ‘Zip-Line” Tour.  We’ll no doubt have plenty of photos to share from that adventure tomorrow… stay tuned.  Check out some of the shots from our ride below.
Besides all of the fun, we were able to share the story of Camp Hope and the purpose of our ride with several individuals on the route–from our stops to gas up, to our stay at Class IV–Camp Hope and it’s mission to help our Veterans is being spread.  I have a feeling we’ll need to order more brochures!
